Questions
Why did my PDF barely shrink?
Text-only PDFs are already small. Compression mostly comes from the photos and scanned pages inside a file. If yours has none, it is already about as small as it gets.
Will the text still be searchable?
Yes, unless you choose "Every page as an image", which is meant for scans where nobody needs to copy the text.
What if the result is bigger?
You are never given a bigger file. If compressing would not help, the tool tells you and keeps your original.
